About Us

Triple Heat Dance – Academy of Performing Artsis presently in its 8thseason under the ownership of Livea Gill Harding and Michelle Hillier.

THD is a community minded school providing quality dance instruction to students from recreational to pre-professional levels. Students are nurtured in a dedicated and vibrant environment receiving instruction from specialized teachers in each type of dance.

We are proud to offer unique programming in multiple disciplines. Little Feet Dance, ages 3-5, offers lessons in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and musical theatre. Our General Dance Programis geared for the recreational dancer ages 7+. All styles are offered, including ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, acro, tap and hip hop. The year culminates in a professionally produced recital for family and friends.  We are also thrilled to be expanding to Comox, BC this fall, offering sessional little feet and general programs in ballet, jazz and musical theatre available Wednesdays at the Little Red Church.

The Intensive Training Program, available for dancers ages 7+, provides additional training opportunities, allowing dancers to further their technique and performance skills. ITP dancers participate in our Christmas Show, various festivals and competitions and community minded events. Examination programs are also offered in ballet and tap disciplines. Many of our ITP dancers have moved on to esteemed programs, such as Arts Umbrella Graduate Program, Ryerson Universitydance program, Sheridan College’sprestigious musical theatre program, the National Ballet of Canadaand Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. We share our lives with these young people nearly every day for hours and have laughed, encouraged, and tied up dance shoes over and over again. It is such a joy to inspire young people to have a passion to pursue what they love and have worked so hard to achieve.

As a studio, we not only seek to create healthy children and young adults through physical activity, but we also try to create socially minded children and youth. We look forward each year to performing in the annual Christmas Parade, Cumberland MayDay Parade, Nautical Days and more. We encourage our dancers to give back to the community – through the studio supporting families and the elderly through the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper Program, Adopt a Grand Parent program, through donations to the Comox Valley Food Bank and donations to YANA and the Comox Valley Childrens Association. Finally, we are huge supporters of our Parent Advisory Society and their efforts to raise and donate annual sums to help families who do not have the financial means necessary to participate in our programs. We happily match the monies raised for the “Just Gotta Dance Fund” to help in need families offset their class fees.

We are incredibly proud of our students who prove themselves, time and again, to be committed dancers who love what they do. Not only do we strive to give desiring dancers the tools they need to achieve their dreams of a career in the performing arts, but we also seek to help inspire students of all ages to be confident, self motivated, kind and hard working.
